The role involves leading on the development of the overall strategy for SIGOMA members’ approval (Special Interest Group of Municipal Authorities) and on management of the team, setting the overall work plan.
The successful applicant will be the key contact for specialist advice and guidance and will provide extensive advice to the Chair of SIGOMA on the detailed technical analysis of new developments and in support of the key objectives for information, debate and lobbying.
Essential criteria includes being Level 7 CCAB qualified, having in-depth knowledge of local government finance and policy issues. The candidate will have extensive experience of providing specialist financial advice and guidance on local government finance issues at all levels of seniority as well as engaging confidently with external agencies and other forums.
SIGOMA is one of the largest interest groups within the LGA (Local Government Association). It represents the interests of authorities and urban communities in the northern, midland and south-coast regions of England, providing:– An authoritative and influential voice on local government finance and funding issues to ensure member authorities remain well-informed regarding central government policy– Valuable representation to ensure that some of the most deprived communities in the country receive the vital investment they need
