Going by the book to export to Latin America
But Latin America, though the home of plenty of opportunities for UK businesses, is still a region of the world that “seems rather detached from the UK”, according to Gabriela Castro-Fontoura, the owner of Yorkshire-born business Sunny Sky Solutions. So she has written a book aimed at helping the UK’s small businesses expand into Latin America.
Ms Castro-Fontoura, who has recently relocated Sunny Sky Solutions to Montevideo, the capital of Uruguay and where she was born and raised, said: “Most UK business owners and decision makers will probably have thought about Latin America for their exports.

Ms Castro-Fontoura lived in the UK for more than 13 years. After working as a consultant, she set up Sunny Sky Solutions to act as a bridge between businesses in the UK and Latin America.
Via her book. Doing Business with Latin America, Ms Castro-Fontoura covers a range of topics from business etiquette to import barriers, and from currency issues to multilingual ecommerce.
Ms Castro-Fontoura said: “The book doesn’t have all the answers, but it has a lot of great questions – I hope that businesses use it as a starting point in their Latin America export journey and that they come back to it as things progress.
