Mums are the word for self-defence
Safe Girls was set up by Debbie Potter and Cathy Henworth after several requests from friends and family to teach their teenage daughters self-defence techniques before they went to university or travelling on a gap year or when they went out socialising.
The East Yorkshire mums have just gained their 1st and 2nd dan black belts and are keen to point out that Safe Girls workshops cover more than just physical self-defence techniques.

“But should the worst ever happen, we teach them how to deal with panic as well as a number of highly effective but easy-to-learn techniques which will, hopefully, keep them out of danger.
“We have had grandmothers, mums and daughters enquiring about our workshops.”
