Recruitment drive is on the cards at Retail Merchant Services
Retail Merchant Services (RMS) has 40,000 business customers across the UK and a head office in Milton Keynes. It’s the largest independent card processing provider in the country.
Turnover was £10.7m for year ending 2013 and a recent recruitment event expects to fill 35 jobs, and provide a welcome boost for the economy. The roles will provide earning potential, sales training and uncapped commission. With the British Retail Consortium (BRC) reporting that the acceptance of card payments contributes to an increase in average spend per customer, the first market trader to adopt the portable GPRS chip and PIN terminal, Junaid Ashraf, recommended six other traders who have now embraced the payment technology.

He said: “We work providing specialist card payment solutions to small and medium enterprises.
“The way it worked, for example, with Bradford Market, is one of our sales representatives sold a terminal to one of the market traders (Mr Ashraf) because people were not carrying much cash.
“He found that more and more people were asking if he took card payments.

From that, they received six other referrals from market traders as they realised it was cost effective for them to accept card payments.
Previously, they had been put off by the assumed prohibitive cost.
Once the first market trader took that leap of faith and was prepared to not be put off by what they feared was the outlay and commitment, they have seen a trend towards more transactions and of a higher value.
Mr Larner said the expectation is that, one day, we will become a cashless society.
