Value up but volume of deals down
There were 64 transactions announced in April to June 2010, a decrease of 42 per cent on the previous quarter, according to information services company Experian, which released its latest mergers and acquisitions and equity capital market data yesterday.
The value of the deals came to 1.89bn, a 38 per cent increase.

Hide AdThere were five deals over 100m recorded, with those transactions having a total value of 1.6bn, compared to four the previous quarter. Deals in Yorkshire accounted for 6.8 per cent of all UK deals in terms of volume.
Hammonds, DLA Piper, Cobbetts and Lupton Fawcett were the most active legal advisers in the region in terms of volume, having worked on three transactions each. Deloitte topped the list of financial advisers by volume, working on four.
Nationally, the UK saw a 15.5 per cent decrease in transactions compared to the previous three months, with the volume of transactions down by 8.7 per cent at 46.2bn.
