Wensleydale Railway: Chance to drive a train in anniversary raffle to mark 'new era' of heritage line
Now, as this year marks the 20th anniversary since the birth of a 'new era' at Wensleydale Railway, special celebrations are underway.
A raffle has been launched in the build up to the big day on July 4, with tremendous prizes from a driver experience day to afternoon teas and a chance to ride the Polar Express.

Hide AdNick Keegan, fundraising manager for the heritage railway, said this was an opportunity to support a volunteer-led railway while winning unique prizes.
He said: "Tickets are selling very quickly and we anticipate this being one of our most popular raffles to date.”
The Wensleydale Railway, running heritage diesel services over 22 miles between Scruton and Leyburn in North Yorkshire, is popular with families and enthusiasts alike.
There's the scenic routes, historic stations restored, and chance to rediscover a lost way of life.

Hide AdConnor Lagus, community engagement officer, said it was down to the work of a "passionate" group of volunteers that it is open to the public today.
He said: "The railway operated as a commercial line as far back as the mid 1800s. Unfortunately, in the 1950s, the line closed to passenger traffic."
The Wensleydale Railway Association (WRA) was formed in 1990 to restore passenger services to the line, but it wasn't until 2003 that it had its "maiden voyage".
Mr Lagus said: "We now have the 20th anniversary of that 'new era'. It's not just a mode of transport, now that so many people have cars. We are more than a 'ride'.

"For me, what encapsulates the railway is the spirit of the incredible volunteer team.
"We have 400 volunteers, and they fulfil so many different aspects, from making the trains run as drivers to living history interpreters. There are so many people invested in the railway.
"And for the community it's a window into their history. A glimpse into how things would have been on this historic line 150 or even more years ago."
