The alternative wedding kicked off with the congregation, including Black Lace co-star Ian Robinson and mate Bruce Jones, better known as Coronation Street’s Les Battersby, welcoming the happy couple into the room with a rendition of the barmy dance song, which reached number two in the charts in 1984 and has sound tracked many wedding dos ever since.

Speaking after the colourful ceremony the Mr Michael said: “Both Karen and I have been married before so we thought we should mark this occasion a little differently.
“We didn’t want the traditional wedding. It started off as a joke really, we laughed about having a Hawaiian-themed do. But we both wanted it to be a fun day, one for all our friends to enjoy, so we decide this was a perfect idea.
Dene is still touring with Black Lace and will appear at the Beat Harder festival in Lancashire this summer.
