POLICE are appealing for information after a 21-month-old baby was kicked by a passer-by while she and her carer waited to cross the road in York.

The incident happened at around 10am on Wednesday at the pelican crossing on the junction of Lendal Bridge and Station Avenue, near the Aviva building.

The baby was walking with her childminder and an assistant when she began to cry. On hearing the sound, a man standing in front of them turned around and kicked the child in her stomach. She suffered a minor external injury.
