Curlew chicks survive blaze
PEAK Park rangers said yesterday that two curlew chicks from a nest that came within a metre of being destroyed by a moorland fire appear to have survived.
Firefighters were called to Beeley Moor, near Chatsworth, on May 26, and the following day rangers assessing the damage found chicks in a nest on the boundary of the burned land.
They returned this week and found the chicks had taken their first flight.
