Dahlia champion ends on a high with three in a row
He won with his five vases of blooms but says his hobby has been taking up too much of his time.
“Having just won the Scottish individual championship about 10 days ago and now my third win at Harrogate, I can’t get much better,” said the former paper maker from Barrow in Furness.

Hide AdThe Pelargonium and Geranium Society had their best number of entries at Harrogate for many years. The Best in Show award went to David Edmond, from Filey.
Entries were also up in the North of England Bonsai Association Show with Rod McFarlane, from Bolton, picking up the Best in Show award for the first time.
Ivor Mace, from Wales, picked up four cups and trophies in the British National Carnation Society Show including the Gold cup for the best exhibit.
While Jack Peace from Co. Durham won the Bentley Trophy for Best Exhibit of most merit in the National Chrysanthemum Society Northern Group Show.

Hide AdWinners of the Royal National Rose Society Best exhibit in show were Alice and Tony Bracegirdle from Lancashire, while best exhibit in the miniature classes went to Mark Hewertson.
The Blue Ribbon winner at the Harrogate and Ripon Beekeepers Association show was John Chandler.
The British Fuchsia Society championship was won by Chris Woolston, from Rutland.
