Holiday hero seriously injured by crazed samurai sword thug
Cafe owner Gary Wainwright, from Sheffield, was away with friends and family in the quiet resort of Playa Paraiso when the thug, who had earlier been asked to leave the Brittania Inn bar, attempted to re-enter with a three foot long blade.
Mr Wainwright, 53, used a chair to stop him but the force of the blows broke his arm in four places and severed a main artery.

Fellow holidaymaker Glenn Chapman, 45, who witnessed the incident at around 2am on New Year's Day, said: "It is terrifying to think what could have happened had this crazed man got into the bar.
"Gary protected the entrance to the bar with a chair while over 100 people inside escaped, including many women and young children.
"They were running away and hiding in fear – yet Gary stood up to the nutter. He is a true hero."
Mr Chapman added that Mr Wainwright's attacker is still being hunted by Spanish police.
