Innovative ‘fat vat’ scheme expanding
Yorkshire Water began the unique “fat vat” project in the Bradford Moor area in March, asking residents to collect used cooking oil in containers rather than pouring it down the drain.
More than 500 litres of used cooking oil have been collected. The liquid, which is converted into a bio-fuel, could provide enough power to make 125,000 cups of tea.

Yorkshire Water is looking to expand the project to another 50 houses on nearby Byron Street.
