Jury sworn in for UDM theft trial
Neil Greatrex and Mick Stevens, the ex-president and Nottinghamshire general secretary of the Union of Democratic Mineworkers (UDM), both denied 14 counts of theft at Nottingham Crown Court.
Greatrex and Stevens, both 60, are accused of stealing approximately £52,000 from the Nottinghamshire Miners Home charity.

Hide AdIt is further alleged that Greatrex, from Stanley, Nottinghamshire, and Stevens, of Rufford Park, Newark, stole credit balances totalling around £96,000 from the Phoenix Nursing and Residential Home near Skegness, Lincolnshire.
Jurors selected to try the case were required to complete a questionnaire asking them if they had any connections with the UDM.
