This is testament to the sustained success, over a good many years, of Yorkshire’s restaurateurs who have shown, with their culinary skills, flair for food and use of locally-sourced ingredients, that London and the Home Counties does not have a monopoly when it comes to fine fare.
And, in many respects, Yorkshire can promote itself as the nation’s food capital because its ‘magnificent seven’ Michelin restaurants, who scooped eight accolades in total, complement dozens, if not more, of local restaurants, pubs and community cafes which offer unrivalled quality and value for money.

Hide AdIt is why they deserve to be a focal point of Welcome to Yorkshire’s new ‘Walkshire’ campaign – the quality of this county’s eateries will be a real selling point if the vaccine rollout now underway paves the way for new-found demand for ‘staycation’ holidays.
Yet, in the meantime, it is to be hoped that families show their support for such ventures, and others, by phoning up and paying for an advanced meal for a future date once lockdown restrictions have been eased. Not only will such support help sustain pubs and restaurants from a financial perspective, but it will give them the encouragement to survive this pandemic. And, just as importantly, it also gives customers a special treat to look forward to after a year which, for the great many, has been like no other.
