Running for glory
Now there’s the much-travelled Amy-Eloise Markovc who is proud to represent Wakefield Harriers and who produced one of the performances of the 2021 sporting year to date when winning the 3,000 metres at the European Indoor Championships with a dominant piece of running.
And, given the BBC’s commitment to broadcasting athletics on terrestrial television, such success, at the outset of a belated Olympic year, bodes well for inspiring a new generation of competitors, inspired by Amy-Eloise and other new names to the public, to put on a pair of running shoes – and see where that journey takes them. That’s the joy of sport.
