Even though she only opened Limestone Books in the heart of Settle months before the first lockdown, word quickly spread about her enthusiasm.
And, even though the actual shop has had to close during the current restrictions, she made the enterprising decision to deliver books free of charge by hand to local customers in order to deter them from using a certain online book service in the interim.

Hide AdThe strategy appears to be paying off – books have offered great comfort and solace to many in the past year – and her exciting plans for the future are certainly not a work of fiction.
Quite the opposite. They deserve to become part of a bestselling book on how such stores can still turn over a proverbial new leaf when the economic survival odds are stacked against local high streets across the county and beyond.
