Little time for street parties
A LOT of concern has been expressed that very few street parties have been arranged for the Royal Wedding.
Isn’t this little wonder when both partners nowadays have to go to work to earn a half decent living and in a lot of cases, one partner has to travel a considerable distance to and from work, meaning early starts and late back home?

Hide AdThere was a time when one breadwinner could earn enough to pay a mortgage. Nowadays two people struggle, sometimes even to pay the rent.
Furthermore, if ordinary people haven’t got the time or possibly the community spirit to organise a street party, how on earth are they going to find the time and inclination to get involved with the Big Society?

What a wonderful, long-sighted Government we inherited in May 2010, able to see so easily that this country was economically broke and sinking fast.
The issues were fully addressed by the Chancellor of the Exchequer with huge cuts in all areas of public life and service.

Hide AdThese cuts included the police, fire service, ambulance service and worst of all, the justice system.
But, lo and behold, Colonel Gaddafi kicks off and suddenly we can find millions of pounds in an attempt to suppress him.
Come on Mr Cameron, think before you act in such an irresponsible manner.

Now that the Conservative’s answer to John Prescott has said that it is not an offence for yobs to spit at a policeman, would it be within the same law for me to go around spitting at Ken Clarke’s family and friends?
Sorry, I forgot. One law for Ken’s kin but a different law for the rest of the public. Hard luck police.
