Roadworks disruption not welcome in Yorkshire village – Yorkshire Post Letters
WE USED to take our essential services for granted: electric, water works, road repairs and street cleaning etc. Unfortunately, these are no longer dependable.
Living in Snainton, the power supply has been interrupted on at least 10 occasions in the past two years or so.

Hide AdRoadworks caused by these along with water works and general road repairs have created traffic flow problems.
Although we have to accept the inconvenience of these, it usually takes about 10 days after completion before the road is back to normal.
It appears there are separate units: one for digging, another for repairs, another for filling in the hole, another for resurfacing, and yet another for traffic control signs.
The pavements are never swept and the grass verges infrequently cut.

Hide AdI have lived for 10 years of my life in third world countries in Africa, yet the services there were far superior to ours.
Yet one more complaint. Litter: I travelled on the bus to Scarborough and could not believe the amount of rubbish discarded on the grass verges.
It just seems to be acceptable these days, yet no one seems to be prosecuted for these offences.
