Scruffy Clegg needs collaring
I WAS dismayed to see pictures of our Deputy Prime Minister, Nick Clegg, visiting Yorkshire (Yorkshire Post, January 9). He was wearing a smart suit but, like so many men nowadays, an open-necked shirt with no tie. He looked scruffy and as if he had just got up and had not finished dressing for the day.
His hosts were all smartly dressed, wearing ties, no doubt as a mark of respect for Mr Clegg’s office, even if not for the man himself.

I abhor this open-neck trend in formal situations. It is all very well in casual attire but not when politicians, television presenters, reporters etc are “on duty”.
It is no wonder that Tie Rack is having to close down.
Radio killed by digital stir

KARL Sheridan’s experience with DAB radio (Yorkshire Post, January 2) struck a chord with me. At least he can get programmes on DAB. We bought a DAB/FM radio several years ago but still cannot access a single programme on DAB.
Situated as we are 10 miles from the A1, we are certainly not in an isolated location.

YOUR letter writer M Walton (Yorkshire Post, January 8) demeans a popular pastime requiring considerable skill, when he describes the new plastic bank notes as “Monopoly money”. The latter has in fact always been, and remains, a paper currency.
