Plans for 'high-quality' holiday park close to popular Yorkshire beach
Proposals have gone in to East Riding Council for 35 touring caravan pitches and 24 camping pods on six acres of land at Sea View Farm, on the outskirts of Mappleton, which has a beach popular with dog walkers.
The plans involve knocking down all the buildings on the site, except for the farmhouse, and digging a lake on the fields to the north of the site.

An existing farmhouse will be used to manage the tourism business, while 15 “redundant” buildings, which the applicant say are an “eyesore”, will be demolished.
The plans state: “The proposals will allow the sustainable change of the redundant farmyard to a new high-quality holiday park at a time when the UK tourism industry needs to be supported.”
Mappleton is one of the few places on the crumbling Holderness shoreline outside the main resorts where people can easily access the beach via a ramp.

Camping and caravan sites, which have been described as being “socially distanced by design” were the most popular accommodation choice over the summer with a 39 per cent share of the market.
An ecological survey found that swallows were likely to have bred within the buildings for some years and recommendations have been made for swallow nest cups to be put up on site so they can continue to breed there.
