Plans to invest £1m in Filey, Whitby, and Scarborough seafronts set to get green light
The money – part of the council’s capital strategy agreed in February – would be spent sprucing up the seafronts with new seating, improved amenities like public toilets and new floral displays.
So-called “grot spots” would be cleaned, additional litter and recycling bins installed and there would be new signage, showers and water bottle refill points.

The council has plans to make further significant investment in Filey as well as Whitby West Pier and Scarborough Spa from its own budgets.
The spending would be on top of the already announced Town Deals funding totalling £37.3 million and would be just the first phase of improvements.
Councillor Liz Colling, Scarborough Council Cabinet Member for Inclusive Growth, said: “This is a significant investment in our borough.

“At the same time, they need to reflect the history and tradition of each of the three towns.
“The £1m will also support our wider work to rebuild the borough’s visitor economy as lockdown restrictions are eased further.”
