Return of King that Hollywood would find a bit rich
THROUGHOUT his life, Richard and Yorkshire were intrinsically linked.
His childhood home was at Middleham Castle and he was one of the first great benefactors to York Minster, where he is said to have wished to be laid to rest.
His troubled two-year reign up until 1485 was plagued by revolts and the legend of the Princes in the Tower. Richard is said to have murdered his nephews to pave the way for himself to become king.
A museum dedicated to Richard III is housed in the Monk Bar on York’s medieval city walls.
