Train delays and motorway closures due to Storm Doris hit Yorkshire commuters
TRAINS
Several services which serve Yorkshire, including those connecting to and from London, have been affected by delays due to high winds.
Those with no choice but to travel today were urged to check beforehand on www.nationalrail.co.uk and to expect delays.

Hide AdHundreds of high wind-related incidents were being tackled today by Network Rail’s orange army engineers - from trampolines, chairs and trees blown on tracks to bags blowing on to overhead power lines.
With blanket speed limits of 50mph imposed for safety reasons, London Midland said customers with tickets for today could use them on specified services.
Meanwhile on its West Coast franchise Virgin Trains “strongly advised anyone who can postpone their journey to do so,” adding: “Tickets for today will be accepted for journeys starting before 2pm tomorrow (Friday 24th), or anytime on Saturday.”
A spokesperson for Network Rail said: “Storm Doris is really causing us problems today. Please be assured we are doing all we can to keep the railway moving.”

Hide AdStorm Doris continues to cause traffic chaos for thousands of Yorkshire commuters with many trains delayed or cancelled.
There are long delays for CrossCountry services to Edinburgh, Northern services to Lincoln Central as well as East Midlands Trains services to Liverpool Lime Street.
East Midlands Trains to London St Pancras were cancelled as were CrossCountry services to Newcastle and Northern services to Bridlington.
As a result of disruption from Storm Doris, East Midlands Trains have advised customers not to travel with the company adding that tickets dated for today can still be used tomorrow.

Hide AdTheir trains on the London/Nottingham/Sheffield route are "severely disrupted" with many already cancelled.
CrossCountry have warned that they are running an ammended services due to high winds between 10am and 4pm.
