North Yorkshire Police are tackling the problem through Operation Hawk, which focuses attention on rural crime and travelling criminals.
The operation is an intelligence-led campaign working with volunteers from the various Rural, Farm and Border Watch schemes, as well as support from key countryside partners such as the national parks and the National Farmers’ Union to help spread crime prevention advice.
