Video: How 3,000 children set an Olympic record... in the middle of Ossett
More than 3,000 schoolchildren gathered in Ossett town centre today in a bid to beat the old record of 2,000 for the number of people making a formation of the five Olympic rings – each 12m in diameter.
The event was hailed a huge success as youngsters from nine schools in the Ossett area descended on the town centre precinct.

Hide AdHuge crowds gathered to watch the brightly coloured spectacle as children – dressed in red, yellow, blue, black and green T shirts and caps – hit their marks to depict the coloured rings. A helicopter hovered overhead to film the event which will be used to verify the Guinness World Record attempt – which was arranged by Danielle Sidebottom, a teaching assistant at Gawthorpe Academy.
