Netflix is increasing its prices this week - the best streaming alternatives if you want to cancel your account

Netflix has revealed that it will be increasing the prices of two out of its three package subscription options. A Netflix spokesperson said: “We understand people have more entertainment choices than ever and we’re committed to delivering an even better experience for our members. “We’re updating our prices so that we can continue to offer more variety of TV shows and films.” The spokesperson added that there will continue to be a range of plans available, so viewers can “pick a price that works best for their budget.” Netflix axed its 30 day free trial for new members last year. The company said at the time: “We’re looking at different marketing promotions to attract new members and give them a great Netflix experience.” Price changes The Standard Package is set to increase from £8.99 per month to £9.99 per month. This package allows users to watch Netflix on two screens at the same time, download media onto two devices and watch in HD. The Premium Package will rise from £11.99 per month to £13.99 per month. This package allows viewers to stream Netflix on up to four screens at the same time, download content onto four devices, and watch in Ultra HD. The good news for those on the Basic Package is that the price will remain at £5.99. This package allows users to watch on just one screen at a time, and download content onto one device only, with no HD viewing options. When will the prices increase? For new members, the prices have already been increased, with those who signed up from 10 December already paying the inflated subscription prices. For existing subscribers, the price increase will be implemented soon, although specific dates depend on your subscription cycle. Netflix said: “Current members will be notified through email and also receive a notification within the app 30 days ahead of their price increase. “Timing will be based on the specific member’s billing cycle.” ‘Netflix might not be worth it anymore’ With news of the price increase reaching users, many were unhappy to hear that they would be paying more for their account. Taking to social media, Twitter users expressed their disappointment. One user wrote: “Netflix is constantly dropping the good shows from their site, but are constantly upping the price.” Another tweeted: “Netflix doesn’t even have that good of a selection and they have the audacity to increase their monthly price?” “I like how the price for Netflix keeps going up, but they will not add any good shows or movies,” wrote another. “Netflix might not be worth it anymore, I feel like they are getting rid of the best shows and then raising the price,” tweeted someone else. Sky TV This Sky TV bundle includes SKY TV and Netflix as well, so you don’t have to cancel your Netflix account if you still have shows you want to watch on the streaming site.
