Luke Ayling – struggled with El Ghazi early on and never able to rampage forward 5
Diego Llorente – one brilliant recovery after being outmuscled by Ollie Watkins 6
Liam Cooper – played El Ghazi on for the goal 6
Stuart Dallas – switched to midfield in the second half 6
Pascal Struijk – for the second time this season, substituted when asked to anchor the midfield. Last time he was a liability withdrawn very early, this time more just ineffective 5

Tyler Roberts – a disappointing performance as the attacking midfielder 5
Mateusz Klich – anchored the midfield when Struijk went off, he has not at his best lately in a tough season 6
Raphinha – one first-half surge of pace must have scared the life out of Ahmed Elmohamady but Villa were able to keep him at bay 7
