The Owls led through Jacob Murhpy but Paddy McNair equalised before Britt Assombalonga claimed the winner for the visitors deep into time added on.

Joe Wildsmith, 7: Made two important saves close together in the first half, couldn't do much about the first Middlesbrough goal and did his best to keep out the winner but the shot had too much behind it.

Kieran Lee, 6: Poor defending for the match-winner, as Assombalonga was unmarked in the final minute of the game.

Jacob Murphy, 7: Opened the scoring but should have had two goals after missing a great chance in the closing stages

Barry Bannan, 7: Tried to get forward with intent during the first half and early stages of the second but was well marshalled by Boro's midfield.
Tom Lees, 6: Worked hard in the heart of the Wednesday midfield.
Kadeem Harris, 6: Bright in the first half, dragged one effort wide from outside the box.

Connor Wickham, 5: Was guilty of giving away the ball for Boro's equaliser. Held it up well.

George Friend, 7: Was focused and helped to limit the Owls' chances despite the hosts finding plenty of space in between the midfield and defence.

George Saville, 7: Helped to clean up danger before it had the chance to become a problem. Didn't stop running all night.
Djed Spence, 7: Was on hand to get Boro on the attack from deep.
Marcus Tavernier, 7: Provided the perfectly-weighted cutback for McNair's equaliser. Was always looking to get in behind the Owls back three.
