Northampton Town v Huddersfield Town: Wembley provides big incentive to Terriers
The Terriers were edged out in the northern final by Carlisle United, meaning they just missed out on a trip to Wembley.
And with the League One play-off final also being held at Old Trafford last term – where Town lost to Peterborough United – it meant Lee Clark’s side were denied a Wembley appearance on two fronts. Clark is determined to make amends, starting tonight with a first-round trip to Northampton Town.

“Losing to Carlisle and missing out on Wembley was one of the huge disappointments of last season because you get so few chances to go there in this game.
“I’ve been there before and it’s a marvellous arena, so to try and get the chance to manage a team there is a huge incentive.
“So, we’ll be fielding a team that I believe can win us the tie and go on and get to Wembley and be successful.”

Striker Alan Lee, who scored twice in Saturday’s 3-0 home win over Wycombe Wanderers, may be rested as Clark looks to juggle his squad.
Experienced forward Lee is also likely to be required for Saturday’s trip to Oldham, when Jordan Rhodes will be with Scotland Under-21s.
