Garry Monk on why the schedule did not help Sheffield Wednesday against Huddersfield
After their excellent weekend victory at QPR, Wednesday failed to hit the heights in a low-key stalemate, with Monk admitting the fact that Town had an extra day's preparation than his side did eventually told and expressed unhappiness at the scheduling.
One of the main positives for Monk was another strong rearguard performance with Tom Lees back in tandem with Julian Borner, but in the final third, Wednesday - missing Connor Wickham - failed to instigate a breakthrough.
He said: "Physically it’s been really tough on the team.

Hide Ad"If we had scored, they would have had to change their game plan and it would have helped us.
"We can’t do any training because of the turnaround - that’s a massive demand.
"Huddersfield had an extra day on us and that is huge. We are playing sides who have had extra days on us, and it definitely makes a difference.
"But when we tired, we concentrated and were solid and we took a point with a clean sheet - that’s a positive."

Hide AdOn the impact of Lees, Monk added: "Tom Lees has come in for the last two games and you can see the leadership.
"We had focus and application. We don’t have huge options to change the side.
"We kept probing but they were difficult to break down.
"If we couldn’t take the three points we had to make sure we got one, and we did. Every point is crucial."
