Bournemouth 2 Sheffield Wednesday 0: Megson blasts Owls for gifting victory on a plate to Cherries
Megson said: “I’m disappointed because we’ve now turned what would have been a really good start into an average start.
“Now we have to go to Bury and get a result before we play Notts County at Hillsborough.

“We gifted Bournemouth their first goal with marking that was not like us and then we gifted them their second goal when we switched off and rolled the ball out of play and they scored after the resulting throw-in.
“We brought Chris Lines on in the second half because he is capable of getting a goal and I thought he did well.”
The Owls were without new signing Chris O’Grady because of his heel injury and the Cherries star player Danny Ings was unexpectedly absent and was rumoured to be on his way to Burnley to join former manager Eddie Howe.

The Owls started with Clinton Morrison and Gary Madine up front.
The breakthrough came in the 38th minute as Bournemouth centre-half Adam Barrett rose above Rob Jones to bullet a header into Nicky Weaver’s bottom left-hand corner from a corner.
The contest was over for the Owls when Bournemouth made it 2-0 in the 84th minute. A ball played in from the right found substitute Harry Arter, who drove a low shot past Weaver from 12 yards.
