Snooker hopefuls on the road to The Crucible
Four rounds of qualifying at Sheffield’s English Institute of Sport will see players battling to secure 16 places at the Crucible, where they will join the top 16 seeds.
Father and son Peter and Oliver Lines, from Leeds, are in action today and tomorrow. Oliver, 25, faces Dylan Emery this morning while Pickering’s Paul Davison, 49, meets China’s Gao Yang at the first hurdle in the afternoon session.

Hide AdPeter Lines, 51, tackles Mark Lloyd tomorrow afternoon looking to reach the Crucible for just the second time in his career. At the same time, Rotherham’s Ashley Carty, 25, plays Welshman Michael White.
On Wednesday, York’s Ashley Hugill, 26, has been paired with Irishman Aaron Hill.
World No 54 David Grace, the 35-year-old from Leeds who reached the Crucible in 2017, enters at the second round stage, on Friday, when he faces the winner of Steven Hallworth and Dean Young.
Women’s World Champion Reanne Evans faces Andy Hicks, while Rebecca Kenna will make her debut against Brandon Sargeant.
