Stars given a sandy new look as centre celebrates the city
The life size sculptures are two of three created by Hebden Bridge-based sand artist Jamie Wardley and his team from Sand In Your Eye over the course of the week at The Broadway.
Three and a half tonnes of sand were used to create the pieces, the third being a reimagining of the Bradford skyline, depicted as a montage of famous local landmarks and residents.

General manager at The Broadway, Ian Ward, said: “We commissioned the sculptures to celebrate all things Bradford. While we love getting away at this time of year, we wanted to remind Bradfordians of all the wonderful things about our city which are there to be enjoyed throughout the summer.
“The sculptures are just incredible, and our shoppers have let us know just how much they have enjoyed watching Sand in Your Eye at work. We’ve seen everyone young and old absolutely enthralled by the theatre they’ve brought to the malls this week.”
The artwork is part of a range of summer events at the centre, including a teddy bears’ picnic every Friday until September 2.
